This grassroots organization is manned completely by volunteers from the community. The generosity of all those who donated their time and expertise is remarkable.
The artists rendering that put our design thoughts on paper was contributed by artist and architect Mona Brown.
Basic construction of the Memorial was done by Arnie Scheller, John Comeau, John King and his crew at Kings Forest Industries. They contributed their time, expertise, ingenuity and equipment on numerous days to prepare the site and install the boulders.
Rob Riess from Riess Construction along with Stan and Gary Gratton from 3G Construction donated their time, a very large crane and equipment to move the gigantic rock that is the centerpiece of the Memorial into place. The crew from King Lumber moved all of the boulders in place using King Lumber Equipment. Josh and Adam Patten helped to drill and epoxy rebar in place to act as the foundation. Warren Sand and Gravel generously donated all of the crushed stone for the foundations.
Josh King and Adam Patten donated their time and equipment to clean up the trees and brush along the bank of the river. TLC Tree Service showed up during their lunch break to assist in removing some trees safely. Campers from Camp Pemigewassett came to assist in brush removal and took the bass wood tree for wood carving projects at the camp. NH Correctional Department also lent a hand in cleaning up the brush behind the Historical Society.
A special thanks goes out to Chief Bogie from Chief Crushing and Excavation for donating the rose granite stones used for the flagpole. John Rousseau, mason extraordinaire, cut each of these stones to make a perfect layer cake fit.
